Ambassador Spotlight: Kerry Eaton

Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Kerry Eaton. I am 65 years of age. Reside in Burlington ON. My life goal is to remain healthy, assist athletes to achieve their health and fitness goals. I am PROUD to be a HAMMER AMBASSADOR.

I have completed 8 marathons, numerous 10kms, half marathons, duathlons, and triathlons, including 4 Half Ironman races. I am a certified Triathlon Ontario - Community Triathlon Coach, and a Level 4 CanBike cycling instructor.

I’m in my 7th year instructing the Half Marathon clinic at the Burlington Running Room. I run at least 3 times and cycle at least 2 times per week. I race 2 half marathons and ride one, 100 km Granfondo per year.

My "stretch" goal for 2020 is to race the Barrelman 90km bike and 1/2 marathon run in September - Welland to Niagara Falls, ON. I want to prove to my body that age + HAMMER NUTRITION means slower success, but by no means a barrier.

Why Hammer Nutrition?

In the early 2000’s, like so many of my duathlete colleagues, NONE of our available instructors or mentors were knowledgeable about exercise fuelling, for practice or racing. We experienced all the sugary/candy solids and fluids available. Never felt right. Succumbed to excessive tooth decay.

It was not until 2010 and training with my wife for Ironman Florida, did WE realize we have to get a lot more sophisticated and educate ourselves about fuelling to survive and thrive. Several university level nutrition and sport physiology courses later, ENTER HAMMER NUTRITION.

Masterful advice from Sarah and Ryan guided us to find our way. To ride or run long GI free, using Hammer Gels or HEED or Perpetuem, feeling strong and satisfied using a “natural” product, was a revelation. We became HAMMER DISCIPLES IMMEDIATELY. The proof was in sustained performance and feeling of well-being,
before, during and after workouts.

From my cycling/running experience I only have one comment – HAMMER WORKS. This very positive experience spiked my enthusiasm to educate others. I have spoken to other running groups about our HAMMER experiences. Fuel and hydration are part of my half marathon and cycling curricula. We meet 3 times per week for 16 weeks. Fueling is monitored and HAMMER is discussed EVERY SESSION.
